Hi Marybeth,
Bucks or Berks? The Mrs. Charles Steinmetz that pops to mind concerning genealogy is Mary Owen Steinmetz and her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Steinmetz. Mary O. Steinmetz lived in Reading years after her husband died.

I don't know what happened to her material, but I know that at least some of it is buried deep in the files down at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.

As for Erwin, Charles Mays Steinmetz was a cousin of Great Grandfather, Uriah Gross Steinmetz. Uriah was married to Mary Eugenie Irwin. The Irwin line has been a tough one for me to crack.
