Donna, I just posted a reply to the message you were replying to. You might want to read it. I also have lots of information on the George Steinmetz mentioned. I have a complete list of the siblings of George and I'm sorry to sayyour Maria is not one. (I think you already knew she wasn't his daughter, there is only a 15 year difference in their ages and she is not listed as a daughter.) However, they could still be related. The father of George was John Wigant Steinmetz and he was born in Germany. He came to the US either as a baby or very young man and married a Hannah Hays from Virginia. They had most of their children, (including this George) in Maryland. In 1826 they moved to Ohio and settled in the Mount Vernon area. The reason why I say they could be related is that I don't know if JOhn W. had any siblings or cousins come with him or not. He very well could have and that sibling or cousin could have given birth to your Maria. The Hannah I mentioned is also buried in Mt Zion Cemetery and often relatives followed one another to the US settled and died in the same area. The key is to find out if she is related to John Wigant Steinmetz. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions. Teryl
