Jeff is right about the confusion of the layout of the book 'The Steinmetz Steps' but Trixie Larson was attempting to gather a large quantity of then available information that was available at that time and was being gathered from not only ledgers and documents that the Steinmetz's and Hayes descendants had in their possession but also at the annual family reunions that George A.A. Steinmetz and his wife Jennie were putting together for a very accurate picture of our families origins. The Steinmetz-Gorsuch reunions as well as others throughout the state of Ohio went on for many decades and the Mt. Vernon, Ohio reunion is still being put on annually by Charles Denny Stinemetz and some others today. Trixie I don't believe had ever written a book before, but she was able to attend many reunions and gather from wis. Ohio and others in the states a lot of info. but wasn't very concise in the deliverance of the final product.I think she was nearing the end when she had it published by Richland Publishers, but I know that the presentation part concerning Karl August Rudolpf Steinmetz Known as the famous Charles Proteus Steinmetz was very shallow information gathered at the Steinmetz Reunion on one her travels in Harmony (Weissman), Ohio.I know directly from my relatives mostly deceased about his visits with my great and great-garandparents of his stopovers on his travels from Schenectdady, N.Y to Chicago for lectures at the University of Chicago.
