Seeking details of William Stell and Ada Crossley believed to be from Heptonstall, Yorkshire in the latter part of the 19th century.
William seems to have been the son of John Stell, and after selling his carpet factory when his eldest son John William was killed in the Battle of the Somme 1918, he moved to Canon Pyon in Herefordshire where he bought a General Store and Petrol Station.
His youngest son, Savile Crossley Stell, took over the business and William moved to Dorset where he died in 1950.
As John Stell had three sons and three daughters, and he lived in Garden Square, Heptonstall, the odds are on some connected family, somewhere in the region of Heptonstall, Hebden Bridge or Halifax.
