I don't know the answer to your question but i have just started on this genealogy trek and typed in Stamy. I too am a descendant of Iowa and Pennsylvania Stamys. Solomon Stamy was my great-grandfather and settled in the Cedar Rapids Iowa area in the late 1800's. He died in Morristown NY in 1919. I don't know much abou the protocol of research so if I have overstepped my bounds please forgive me. I was just so amazed to see the name.
