Pat,
Do you know if your James Stephen who came to Texas with Stephen F Austin ,Had A brother THOMAS . My G.G.grandfather Thomas Stevens came to Texas with Austin in 1823 ( was one of the 'OLD 300 '. I have found the name Stevens spelled with a PH ,a V , with no S on the end ,however since many of them made their mark ' X' I conclude they wern't literate and name was spelled for them. Thomas was in Choctaw Indian Territory ,Miller county (now Oklahoma ) 1n 1819 a were a group of people who later came to Texas with Austin in 1823. Many of my relatives still live in central Texas . If you think we have a connection E-mail me at truman30@aol.com.
Lets compare notes.
Truman Stevens
