This may be another Ohio Stephan family, but the following information may be of interest to you:

I purchased a large 8 x 10 photo of a family reunion in around 1918. The family was, listed as living in Columbus, OH, and I tried to trace the family based on an inscription on the back: "Herschel family reunion lakeside, etc." When I came up blank, I sent the photo to the Ohio Genealogical Library at the metro library in Columbus. The historian there had some down time to research the information and he made a surprising discovery. The inscription really read "Herschel's family reunion" and tracing the street address writtten on the back of the photo, identified the person mentioned as actually HERSCHEL S. STEPHEN, who was in insurance agent in Columbus and was listed in the 1920 and 1930 census'. He was born in around the late 1890s so was a young boy pictured in the group. He is surrounded by his OHIO STEPHAN FAMILY. Write back to me if you would like to contact the library, and I also have a digital copy of the photo which I would be glad to forward to you.
