In the Scalf book is mentioned one Capt. Tom Step , a Nottoway Indian. Fought against French in the French and Indian war. Was in the Fort Duquesne campaign in 1758. Nottoways lived in Southampton county , Virginia. Other Nottoway Steps were Betty, Solomon , and Billy in 1795. In 1808 Betsy Step and son Tom Step. Tribe ceased to exist (disbanded ??) circa 1830s. Where are their Step decendants , I wonder??
