Descent from John ????

In the original Scalf book on page 3 the phrase " hazardous assumption" is used to describe the theory of John Stapp of Buckinghamshire and his wife Mary Woodard Stapp as being the parents of Joshua and Abraham. John and Mary were married in 1630 . Their is no provision for the young boys in John's will (probated 3 April 1658). If the boys were born around 1650 , it would be 20 years after the marriage , usually not the time for a couple to be having children. The present day Stepps and Stapps I am in contact with in England do not believe John is their father. In fact , they have found no trace of either one so far. In this country, plenty of evidence for existance of Joshua ( will probated Henrico county , Virginia 1695 April Court ) and Abraham ( will probated in present day Essex County , Virginia April 1714 ). No proof of any earlier Stapp in Virginia. In Wayne Stepp's book is present a "family chart" that contains Abe and Josh and "brothers". The only problem is that these" brothers" are from different parts of England thus had different parents. There were Stapps in London , near the Humber River , in Buckinghamshire , and Cornwall/Devonshire in the 1600s. Different families !!
