I have just received more Greene Co., Mo info from the 1876 census. It cannot be copied so one of my maternal cousins copied it by hand. This is what he sent, believe G. Stepp will be Golston Stepp. The 1860 and 1870 NC census for Golston Stepp (if same man) are confusing.

From my cousin:
"This morning I read the 1876 State Census for Greene County, Missouri.

The census is in a bound book and cannot be copied so I copied in pencil what I was able to find.

Justice, John C. Book 57, Page 17.

JUSTICE, John C. age over 45 with wife, over 45 and children, 2 males age older than 10 and under 18; one male age older than 18 and under 21; two females, one over 18 and under 45; one female over 45. Total in family: 6 persons, all white. Five of the six could read and write.

JUSTICE, B. M. males 1 and females 1. Total in family 2, both white. both at least 21 and under 45.

JUSTUS, A. M. Book 57, page 16. One white male 21-45; One white female 21-45; one male child white under 10; 3 female children all white under 10.

There were four STEPPS, Book 57, page 16. You wrote about a G. Stepp. What I found was a Golston STEPP. Would this be your STEPP? Listed living one family next to one other were these STEPPS.
STEPP, L. F. husband and wife 21-45
STEPP, Golston, one male 45-Up; one female 45-Up both white with 2 children: one 10-18, the other 18-21.
STEPP, Joseph one male 21-45
STEPP, John One male and female, 21-45; 3 males 10-13 yrs; 2 females: 1 under 10; 1 10-18."

Back to me: Another thing is that A. M. or Asberry M. Justus married Nancy A. Stepp in 1874 at the home of G. Stepp in Greene Co., MO. Asberry M was single in the 1870 census living with his father and step-mother. They should have one child, Cora Jane Justus b Jan 1876 but there are 4 children listed in their home???? 1874 to 1876 gives them time to have another child besides Cora Jane??
1900 Indian Territory Cherokee Nation shows Asbury M Justus and second wife, Cordelia m 13 years. Adron (Adrian? C.) 18 b IN Territory and Earnest 16 born IN Territory. They would be siblings of Cora Jane Justus. The other two children would be children of second marriage, Carrie 9 and Fannie 7.
