John Stapp d. 1814 Adair County KY

Many online pedigrees show John Stapp who died in Adair County, KY in 1814 as the son of John Stapp Sr. and Ann Salmon of Culpeper County, VA.

If so, he would have been a minor son of John when he died in 1750. John's grandfather, Joshua Stapp, filed guardianship papers for his grand children in the 1750's with the Culpeper County court since their mother, Ann, married Henry Wise.

I have not been able to determine which, if any, grandchildren might have been mentioned by name in those papers but I notice Joshua does not mention John as a grandson in his Will. Does anyone have any proof of John's link to the Culpeper Stapp families?

Some researchers believe John Stapp passed through Wilkes County, NC prior to arriving in Adair County, KY. Does anyone have any information on why John was in NC?
