Town of Stepville, Marion County, Alabama

Has anyone heard of the town of Stepville which was located in Marion County, Alabama in spring of 1838. There is a family story that my ancestor Joshua Burleson operated a store in Stepville in 1838 when he was visited by a relative. Did find a Ste4ppville located in Cullman County but a history of this town in "Heritage of Cullman County, Alabama" indicates the town is no longer in existance but does not give any dates as to when it did exist. Doesn't appear to be an old town. Indicates this town named for Mr. & Mrs. Stepp parents of Mrs. Lewis Fanning. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
