Sterret/sherrett/ Scherretz/Sherrets
Hi all,
I am doing research on my Sherrets line and have come across some interesting info. From what I have read here most of you are of Irish decnet. Mt Sherrets are from germany, and immagrated to Pa, mid 1700's. The Spelling of our name has changed many, many times over the years. Anyway this is what I found. The Macopin Death Book" was found in an attic on Westbrook Road, Macopin, Passaic County, New Jersey in 1991.
Edward Sterret, He was found dead on a railroad Track. and also a
SHERRETS - Mrs. SHERRETS, July 3, 1878
Many Deckers also listed in this book.
I have come across the Sterret name many times in my research of Ky, Oh, Mo and Kansas. Is it possible that at some point these two names were brought together by a marr?I have no idea who this Mrs. Sherrets is but it seems to have been a small family cemetery on a farm. Has anyone come across the name Sherretts in their research? The Deckers seem to be every where to. Thanks,Nancy
