STEWARD IRE & BARKER ENG c1830 NY
Posted by: Mary Strovink Daukas Date: March 07, 2002 at 18:38:52

Seeking information on this family.

An unknown number of BARKER brothers arrived in NYC from England abt 1830.

We have not yet found the other brother's families.

This seagoing English family had noble relatives in ENG including a General BARKER.

The only brother we have found so far is my ancestor, William H BARKER of ENG married to Elizabeth STEWARD/ STUART/ STEWART/ SEWARD c 1810 of IRE.

William BARKER b c 1810 was a ship architect/ship joiner employed in the old Brooklyn Navy Yard.

The only child we know of ( may be others ) is Joshua P Barker b 1830 NY maybe in vicinity of the Navy Yard.

Communities near the Navy Yard in Brooklyn abt 1830 include New Utrecht, Gravesend, Flatlands, Flatbush/Midwout, and Bushwick.

Villages in those communities include Breukelen/Brooklyn Village, Bedford, Wallabut, Williamsburgh, Cripple Bush, & Gowanus.

Would appreciate any help you can offer.

Mary
