It is so nice to finally get to communicate to you. Yesterday was the first I had read your message. Just so you know, you have many, many distant cousins, including myself! Every time I attempted to E-mail you, or should I say to write this message yesterday or today, I got "Internal Server Error."
I honestly can't think of who might be the father of William Steward right now. I do know that Sophia Long's father's name was Abraham Long. This information came from the Portrait and Biographical Record of Winnebago and Boone Counties located at the Rockford Public Library, # R920 P83. I don't think I know or knew even that William's middle name was James. I discovered a second cousin once removed on the Internet that I have written to her about having discovered you, so you may hear from her too. She probably has been researching this family longer than I have, so I wouldn't be too surprised she may have some answers for you. Her name is Bernice B.
Are you one of the six James Stewards who also live in Illinois? I checked yesterday in the phone book and could not find any James Steward's who lived in Rockford. Personally, I live in Northern Boone County and have to make a "special" trip to Rockford. I was wondering if you have been to the Rockford Public Library if you have looked for any Stewards in the Past and Present of Winnebago County? That book can be most informative even if you aren't a descendant of any of the people mentioned in there. Myself, my sister who is Arlene O., and Bernice are all descendants of Alanson Steward--apparently a brother to your ancestor.
