Joseph Steward/ Elizabeth Rainey, Madison County TN

I am searching for the parents of Joseph C Steward who was married to Elizabeth Rainey. In 1850 they were living in Madison County, TN with 4 daughters in the household, Eliza, Nancy, Julia Ann and Martha. Joseph was born about 1813, in Tennesee(per census). He apparently died prior to 1860 as his wife, Elizabeth, is found in the household of daughter Eliza and son-in-law, James Fawcett on the 1860 census. Family tradition holds that Joseph was a doctor and that there were no sons who lived to adulthood. The 1850 Census and subsequent marriage records for the daughters list the name as Stewart. Any leads would be appreciated.
