In Reply to: SARAH STEWARD WHO MARRIED SAMUEL REDWARD. by yvonne lay of 882

If (and its a big if) my deductions are correct then the Samuel Redward who married Sarah Steward in 1776 is my 4x great grandfather. I believe he was the father of Thomas (c. 1785 age 1; married Maria Oliver), who was the father of James (b.1805; married Elizabeth Bulbeck). They were fruiterers/greengrocers in Portsea, Portsmouth. This is off the top of my head as I don't have my notes here at work. I have a will dated 1820 for a Samuel Redward - I think it is this same one as the children named are those that appear in the IGI as having parents Samuel and Sarah; but they all called their children Samuel or Thomas or Edward. According to his will Samuel had a brother Edward and one called John (I think). I believe his father was probably Edward Redward but I have no mother's name. Also, according to his will he left a few items to his wife Elizabeth. I think he may have married a second time (an Elizabeth Weddell in 1811) -presumably Sarah died.
