Goodness, I'm so sorry for this late answer Michael, I hope you still have the same email. My email address changed - the .au on the end has been dropped, so consequently didnt get an acknowledgement that anyone had answered my query, and I'd long given up on my Steward line, as I'd hit a dead end.
However, since then, I've found Ann Maria Steward has a father named John Steward - dont know the mother yet -, and a sister named Mary Ann Steward. Both born around 1840 in Lambeth, apparently, though both married in St Anne Soho Westminster, and lived in Islington later on.
Mary Ann Steward married a Charles Isaac Wright, and Ann Maria married a David Way.
Thats still as far as I've got.
I have access to 1851 and 61 census indexes online, but have had no luck finding them - most probably was mistranscribed as Stewart or Howard, of which there are thousands.
Dont know if this information was of any use to you, but I'm hoping to find other Steward descendants out there.
