The 1840 Hampshire County, VA, census lists Landon Carlyle.John Racey is 3 names above him.Eli Beall is 4 names above him.I know Landon to be named after Luke Racey's son -Landon.John Racey on the same sheet is Landon Racey's brother.Eli Beall and his partners sold a grain mill to James Racey, and his partners, in the early 1820s in the same area of Hampshire County.Stephen Miller lived nearby and is on the 1840 census too.I have a copy of the contact of the mill lease (sale) which lists the names of the partners on both sides of the sale. They were all related by marriage if I remember correctly.
The 1860 census, reported in book written by Daniel Oates (in my Hauver line), lists Stephen Miller, Jr. (who may be my great geandfather Amos Miller) in the house hold of Judith Carlyle, age 36, and her 7 children (John, James, Eveline, Charles, Susan, Hanson, andMartha. My gg grandfather Tobias Stickley's first wife is Maria Ann Racey, circumstantially thought to be a daughterof Luke & Elizabeth. Thus a sister to Landon Racey.
