Hi Kent,

James Buchanan Stigall and Eliza Ann Carson are my great grandparents. My grandfather is John William Stigall. He married Bertha Louise Richardson in Pawnee County, Oklahoma (Territory) in 1906. They had the following children.

Dovie Eva Stigall (b 1907 - Oklahoma)
Icie Mae Stigall (b 1910 - New Mexico) -- my mother
The twins (b 1913 - New Mexico)
Johnnie Lee Stigall
George William Stigall
Vivian Leona Stigall (b 1917 - New Mexico)

I believe William T. Stigall is a descendent of Moses Stegall of Anson County, North Carolina. According to the Anson County heritage committee, his son William moved to Overton County, Tennessee and then to Fayette County, Illinois. He had a son John that I believe is William T.'s father. In the 1850 Fayette County census, they are listed as Steigall. In later records, the e was dropped.

James Buchanan Stigall filed for a pension stating that his father, William T. Stigall, joined the Union army in the Civil War, but died of some illness while marching through Missouri.

Also, James Buchanan Stigall and Eliza Ann Carson had one son that you don't have listed. His name is James Buchanan Stigall (b. 1887), but he only lived about six and one-half months.

I do have more information. Feel free to e-mail me (If you click on my name, above, you should be able to get my e-mail address)

Ken Alford
