Jack, You are my cousin. Martha and Strother Stigall were my ggg-grandparents. They traveled by wagon train from Overton TN. and founded the town of Sunshine MO. in Ray Co. They helped to build the first school house and church now gone, destroyed by vandals in eighties. They operated a ferry on MO. River. Martha's grave is there.Strother's brother Reuban wrote an accounting of the family. It is printed in the book Presidents and Prominant people of Ray Co. Mo. Reuban was a prosperous farmer and is being listed as a member of the Masonic Lodge there. My line is my grandmother Jennie Stigall, her father John Milton, his father Strother, his father William (who stayed behind in Illinois), his father Moses in NC. Our grandmother was a little girl on the prairie of MO. turn of twentieth Century. We have an old letter she wrote which said, "uncle Reuban had so many children tee-hee-hee". Stigalls had large families. Some years back I actually talked to the son of family historian Little Bill Stigall. The boy scouts maintain the family graves there. They had family reunions in the Sunshine Church until the 1950s he said. Notify Administrator about this message?
