Ken;

My info was compiled by a cousin some years back and is of course somewhat spotty.

The Stigall I descend from was James Jefferson II, born 5-22-1848 in Garrard County, Kentucky and died 1-13-1929 in Milam County, TX (near Rockdale). He was the son of James Jefferson Stigall born 2-26-1807, died 12-20-1891, married to Almyra Fish on 5-27-1828. It looks like James Jefferson (Sr.) was born in Virginia at an unknown time.

My understanding is that James, Jr. and family came to Thorndale or San Gabriel Texas in the late 1800's; my grandfather, Charles Cleveland Stigall, told me that the family came to Texas in covered wagon; however, he was born here. The 1880 Milam County, TX census shows that James Jefferson Stigall II and family was already here in 1880.

Our family has always lived in the Southeast portion of Texas.

None of my info lists a Raleigh Stigall and the only reference to William T. Stigall is the one I emailed to you. I would like more info and if you want I would be happy to send you what I have, i would have to mail copies since it's still in a raw form and not on computer.

Thank,

Charles Stigall
