My FOSTER family is intertwined with the STIGALL family that was in Fayette Co., IL.
My ggg grandmother was Mary (FOSTER) DAWSON* (my ancestor)SMITH STEGALL/ STIGALL.
On the 1880 Collin Co., TX census, she's married (I'm pretty sure it's her) to Nicholas STEGALL/ STIGALL, b. abt. 1847 in IL. Her children by the SMITH family are in the household and one of her daughters by the DAWSON marriage is living next door. (Sarah Ann DAWSON, b. 1859 in Collin Co., TX and married first to William Thomas MARTIN were my gg grandparents.)
One of Mary FOSTER's older sisters was Nancy P. FOSTER, b. abt. 1839 (prob. Benton Co.) MO. She married Peter STIGALL in 1859 in Collin Co., TX. Peter had married first to Mary ___ abt. 1847 in Fayette Co., IL.
I don't know how Peter and Nicholas STIGALL are related.
William H. FOSTER, son of Maize FOSTER and Sarah ____ and brother of Mary and Nancy mentioned above, b. abt. 1837 in MO (Prob. Benton Co.), married in 1866 in Collin Co., TX to Lucy J. STIGALL, d/o Peter STIGALL and Mary ___, his first wife. Lucy J. STIGALL was b. abt. 1849 in Fayette Co., IL.
Peter STIGALL and Nancy FOSTER had several children and were in Comanche Co., TX by 1872 when their daughter Jessie Ellen STIGALL was born. She married John Harvey MILLWEE. One of Peter and Nancy's daughters was G.A. STIGALL who married T.J. WOODALL in Comanche Co., TX in 1882. Elizabeth STIGALL married John W. FOSTER (relationship unk. but has to be there) in 1891, Comanche Co., TX. Florence STIGALL married in 1890, Comanche Co., TX to H. C. JONES. Walter STIGALL was b. abt. 1877 in Comanche Co., TX.
That's about all I know.
I'd love to find out about Nicholas STIGALL/ STEGALL and whether the children on the 1880 Collin Co., TX census were his and Mary FOSTER's or someone elses. I feel that the 10 mo. old daughter and the older boys are theirs, but need proof and would like to know what became of them.
