Missing puzzle piece: did John Daniel Stillwell (1737-1823) have a son named John (b. 1770) who married Kate Goshorn?
A lot of references on the web seem tangled. Most say John Daniel Stillwell did NOT have a son named John - and none of his sons (say, if their middle name were John) were born circa 1770.
Family history states my line goes from Jacob Grim Stillwell (1836) <--- John Stillwell (1806) <--- John Stillwell (1770) <--- John Daniel (1737)
But proving this line (between John Stillwell [1770] and John Daniel Stillwell [1737]) has been a series of rabbit holes and circular references.
Grateful for any thoughts on the matter.
