My Family line includes Rachael Tharp ( Thorp ) who mrd Jacob " Jake " Stitt. And her sister achsah " Axie" mrd Jacobs brothr, Elijah " Eli" Stitt. These Tharp girls were the daughters of Daniel and Margaret Barkley Tharp, Bath Co., VA.

Daniel Tharp had a son named Joshua Tharp, wife Elizabeth ( nee Smith ) Dunahoo. Joshua had a daughter named Harriett V. Tharp, who married Samuel Stitt, 1846 in Athens, Ohio. Harriett, her family, along with here siblings James, Thomas and (Nicholas ) Lee , and younger sister, Elizabeth, Jr. Tharp, moved to Louisa Co.,Iowa. Harriett later settled in Moscow, Iowa, Muscatine County. Harriett remarried Mr. William S. Johnson at Muscatine, IA Dec. 1858.

I do not know what happened to her first husband, Samuel Stitt. Did he died ? Maybe in the Civil War ? Did they divorce ? I have no information on Harriett ( nee Tharp ) Stitt - Johnson, after April 1863. I know Harriett was alive at the time, but do not know where she was living. Would like to learn more about her and her family.

Do you have any information on this Harriett ( nee Tharp) - Stitt - Johnson ??

Thank you, E. J. Tharp Clyne
