I also Descend from William Stitt B. 1735 N.Antrim Ireland.
I am working with a friend to delve into the Stitt / Scotland history deeper and get more information on the Stitt history with the Border Reivers.
The Stitt Name is not officially listed among the those that participated in this but the Stitt family appeared in the Planting in N. Ireland with the other prodistant families that were Reivers when the Plantations of Ulster were taken place.

The Stitt family is said to be from Ettrick District in Scotland which is on the Border..thus playing into this theory of mine. If anyone has any information that would support or conflict this please feel free to contact me.
Thanks.
Leslie
