My grandmother, Ivan Gordon, had a similar certificate of teaching, issued in Washington County Indiana, one for 12 month, issued on the 27th day of April 1918. This was after finishing a twelve week course directly after graduating from Salem High School in May of 1918. Her brother, Noble also became a teacher, but according to his son, Beryl, left teaching to become a cowboy and he changed jobs a bit.
