This is a long shot and guesstimate but I have a Nancy A Tilton St John b. abt 9 Jan 1833 m. to Joseph Tilton m.abt 1850 in Newburgh, NY in my family Tilton line. Joseph died mid 1960's in the battle of Chancelorville. Nancy married a ? St John mid 1860's and had a daughter named Carrie L. St John b. abt. 1865. Nancy had two other living children, Francis Tilton b. abt 1852 and Joseph Tilton b. abt 1862. Does Nancy or Carrie sound familiar to any St Johns out there?
