"I assume that Matthias, being a good a Puritan, he hated the popish idea of saints and spelled his name phonetically."

It's a thought, but why Sension? Sension was a very real surname belonging to other families who are documented in England.

"As for Mary. We have Matthias Jr. born in Windsor, and his brothers born in London. Mary's mother is listed with Mathias as a founder of Windsor,CT."

Yes, I agree, we can make the connection based on circumstantial evidence. But do we REALLY know this to be a fact?

"We have passenger lists of most of the ships that brought Puritans to Mass. are not available. The only name we have found from the whole family, who we know were in Mass. is Nicolas."

This is quite true. Matthias had to have made it here somehow. Speaking of Nicholas, he was only 13 upon arrival. His surname was Sension on the ship roll. How can we explain a 13 year old boy spelling his surname as Sension as opposed to St. John? If Richard was the father of these two, did they both conspire to use Sension?

"We have passenger lists of most of the ships that brought Puritans to Mass. are not available. The only name we have found from the whole family, who we know were in Mass. is Nicolas."

Who wouldn't want to go hoist a pint at St. James Gate? The reward beyond that would be worth it. I am certain that IF Richard had been there, then he would have been documented. I would like to know where Orline got the notion that Richard was the progenitor of the Irish St. Johns. That might be telling...
