Seeking information on widow: Mary (nee?) St. John. The people I am looking for are listed in The St. John Genealogy, 1907 book. (# is their number in the book) Mary (nee ?) St. John was born about 1794; She married Henry (#3052) St. John about 1824. She lived in Plattekill, Ulster, NY and New York City before going west. Henry died in 1830, leaving her the widow and single mother of 5 children all under 5 years old. 1. Charles H b. abt 1825 (#3068) 2. Deyo b. 1826 (#3069)in 1850 in Springfield, OH 3 James Henry b. 1827 (#3070) settled in Greensburg, IN 4. Wealthy b. 1828 (#3072 & #3073) 1850 in Springfield, OH 5. Hannah Elizabeth b. 1830 (#3071) m. in Greensburg, IN Her son, James Henry St. John (#3070) wrote in his 1863 diary that on August 12, 1863 he rode the trains from Greensburg, Indiana to Vandalia, Fayette, Illinois to visit his mother. It is believed she moved west in 1830 after Henry died with Henry's siblings. Ebenezer St. John (#3053) and his wife Grace Hazletine ended up in Springfield, Ohio and Samuel (#3051) & his wife Ruth (may have ended up in Johnson, County Indiana (near Greensburg)). Samuel and Ruth have a son William Henry who may have been buried near James Henry (many assume the are brother's but i believe they are first cousins but possibly raised as brothers). If Mary, Ebenezer & Samuel separated before the children were fully raised then: I believe Uncle Ebenezer & Grace raised Deyo and Wealthy I believe Samuel raised James Henry and Hannah Elizabeth and I have no idea where Charles H went. Otherwise I believe she lived with or near Ebenezer and Samuel then after the children were of age, Mary (possibly remarried) settled in Vandalia, Fayette Illinois where she was in 1863 (approximately 69 years old) If anyone has any info on her or can search Fayette county records, I would appreciate some feedback.
