JAMES A. (Uncle JIM) LEMMAX was born in Noble County, Ohio, November 26, l846, and died at his home six miles northwest of Princeton, Mo., February 3, l922. Early in life he, with his parents, WILLIAM and MATILDA LEMMAX, moved to Mercer County, Mo., settling on a farm which his parents purchased north of Princeton, Mo. Later he, with his father, engaged in the milling business at Spring Valley, Iowa, east of Pleasanton, Iowa, and later at Leon, Iowa. Later he engaged in the engineering and carpentering trades in and around Leon, Iowa, where the greater part of his life was spent. Some six years ago he moved to the place of his residence at death.
He was married in l872, to FLORA, daughter of WRIGHT and DELPHIA RAGAN, of Lineville, Iowa, who died a few years later. To them one child, a boy, was born, dying in infancy. He was preceded in death by his parents, WILLIAM and MATILDA LEMMAX, and a brother, W.H. LEMMAX. Following by his sister, MISS AVARILLA LEMMAX about 24 hours later.
He is survived by two sisters, MRS. MARY STOCK, of Lucerne, and MRS. A.E. CLEMENTS, of Princeton, Mo.
