Amy, this is a very long time since your posting, but this is the first time I have looked at the Stocking forum.Edward A Stocking was my gggrandfather, his daughter Frances Ann b. 1 Jun 1853 3. 28 Jun 1900, my ggrandmother.I have notes from the memory of Fannie's firstborn, Cora Fletcher Weathersbee b.7 Jul 1870, stating that Edward A and Margaret had 8 and possibly 9 children.Henry Bascomb (taken from family records) b. 1850 in Cold Spring; Mary Ellen, b. 1852 in Cold Spring, d. about 1867; Frances Ann; Rachel b. 1856 in Cold Spring; Kittie b. Jun 1857 d. 22 Apr 1885; McLean b. about 1858; Julia b. about 1859; Bryana b. after 1850.The 1850 census shows the family in Liberty County TX, in 1860 they were in Harris County, by 1870 they were in Polk County, and in 1880 they are living in San Jacinto County.I have not researched the dates of formation of these counties .... I do know that Edward was a Methodist minister and they are moved around, also that the family lived in Cold Spring 1866 when Frances Ann first met her future husband and they were married there in 1869.My grandmother Cora Weathersbee was born there in 1870.
After all these years you have probably already gotten most of these answers, but I hope I have helped even a little bit.If you have anything you would like to share, please e-mail me at [email protected] would be happy to share information I have about descendants of Edward and Margaret.
Happy hunting, Betty
