I have the portrait, in the original frame. I'm her great great grandson. I also have a photo of her reading a newspaper around the same time as the portrait was done, as well as photos of her daughter Helen Potter.

Dan Kinder, writing from Sandra's computer in Germany, where we recently visited the houses and grave of mary's daughter Mary Cary Von Luttwitz in Baden Baden.

Arthur Von Luttwitz was a wonderful man, <prussian, military attache to the court of St. James and the court of the Tsar. <he dined with Queen Victoria and we had a photo of MCVL rolling bandages with the Tsarina during the Russo <japanese War. She met Arthur on a tour of Europe with her mother in 1891, <i believe. the story that came down in our family was that Grandma Cary told Arthur that she approved heartily of the match, but that if he wanted young <mary to become the Baroness Von L he would have to report to Cleveland in a year speaking English. <he duly did so.

After rising to be the chief supply officer in the German army in WWI, Arthur retired with his beloved <mary to Baden Baden. They lived in some lovely places there, and <mary built another lovely one for herself after Arthur's death. My beloved Syandra has gathereed quite a lot of information on the VL branch of the clan.
