I'm familiar with the Towles name in Accomack Co., VA.

Have you ever read the book, "Wenches, Wives & Widows" by JoAnn Riley McKey? JoAnn wrote fourteen chapters containing sixteen women of Accomack Co. during the 1600's. Half a dozen chapters mention the Calvert family in one way or the other. Chapter 4 is entitled: Mary Calvert Supple. It recalls the Calvert and Parker families and Mary sneaking off to marry Garrett Sipple/Supple at age 17.

Chapter 14 is entitled: Elizabeth Stockley Bowen Towles; First Lady of Chincoteague. It's about the Stockley's and Towles' fight with their neighbors over the ownership of Chincoteague Island. It covers period 1670 to 1687.

It's published by Heritage Book, 2007.
