This is just an educated guess, but they may be descedants of John Stockley. My records show that John Stockley born in 1621 lived near what is now Northhampton. To get you started here is a copy of his will:

Will: Plantation at Assawoman being 2700 A. to be equally divided between my sons. To wife Elizabeth the plantation I live on during her widowhood then to son Thomas, should sons die before me divide plantation between my daughters Jane, Hanna, Ann, Elizabeth. Another plantation divided equally between three sons William, Woodman, John. (from Wills and Administrations of Accomack Va 1663-1800)

His daughter Ann btw married Henry Towles and is my 6h great grandmother.
