Just for the record, my line is Eleazer,Joshua,Isaac,John Burnell and Francis (my great grandfather). When Francis was about three years old, both his parents (John Burnell Stoddard - Maria F. Parkhill) died and he was adopted by his Aunt (John's sister), Jane Miriam Stoddard. Jane was married to Francis (Frank) Wyman Page, son of the second mayor of St. Louis, MO, so Francis Stoddard became Francis Stoddard Page. There are only three males of my generation with this adopted name of Page.
The adoption is documented in the Winslow Memorial by Holton, a genealogy written by my grandfather in his own hand, and family bible. None of this is acceptable to the Mayflower Society and adoption records are rare for that period. My oldest son is not concerned which boat he came to America on so my quest has come to an end.
