Hi everyone! I'm hoping someone here can help us out. I am listing below the info we have been given regarding my husband's family, but something isn't right somewhere, and I can't seem to locate the problem. I think it may be the Samuel Stokes listed in our line, of course it could be way before him. There is so much incorrect info out there that it's gotten really confusing trying to weed through it all. If someone could please take a look below and see if something seems out of whack, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your help!

I'm going to start with William Harbord Stokes since I know up until that point everything is correct on our end.

William Harbord Stokes (1826-1895) m. Martha Johnson (1826-1860)

William was the son of Freeman Walker Stokes (1807-1845) who married Elizabeth Melton (1807-1869)

Freeman was the son of Herbert Stokes (1770-1780) who married Isly ? (D. 1818)

Herbert was the son of John Stokes, Jr (1743-1810) who married Elizabeth ? (1735-1805)

John Jr was the son of John Stokes, Sr (1717-1794) who married Sarah ? (1721-1777)

John Sr was the son of Samuel Stokes (1695-1770) who married Sarah ? (unknown)

This is where the confusion comes in. We show Samuel as being the son of John Stokes (1662-1748) who married Elizabeth ? (1690-1746) and John being the son of Sylvanus Stokes (1636-1704) who married Mary Bishop.
