I am the ancestor of Evoline Stokes born 12/20/1815. Some websites say she was born in Calloway Co., KY and other's say in NC. Most of my family lived around the area of Chatham Co., NC, except for the Wyatt's from Burke Co., NC. They seemed to have traveled together to Calloway and Graves Co., KY. I have read on websites that Evoline's real name was Elizabeth Evoline. Supposedly her parent's are Abner Stokes and Elizabeth Reed. However, I find those two to have lived in Texas not KY, according to a website I found. Do you have any info. about Abner Stokes and wife? I've hit a dead end except that it appears that Abner and wife were born somewhere in NC. Evoline was married to my ancestor John Smith of Chatham,NC. I found an Abner Stokes to have been in Stewart Co., TN at one point and do not know if this was him. I have looked at the children of John Stokes/Stoakes, Sylvanus, and Thomas and can't find Abner listed under them or under any other Stokes. Could you please help me if you can? Thank you.
