George W. Stonebraker was the seventh child of John D. Stonebraker II and his second wife Rebecca (More?). He was born in Nelson or Spencer County Kentucky about 1822.He moved to Lincoln, Co., MO with his parents in 1832. He married America
Hilton-Racker in Lincoln Co., MO on 5 Jul 1849. He worked as a timberman and bought, traded or claimed many parcels of land which he then cleared and sold or abandoned if no buyer could be found. He fathered six children who were orphaned when he was killed early in life (date uncertain). At the start of the Civil War he was appointed Captain of the County Militia, but was shot in the back and killed at a Town Meeting by a local dissident in a dispute as to which side of the War the Militia would favor.
