That info was based on info from a Stoskopf reunion in Hutchinson KS, about 1995. I couldnot attend and have not verified the information. I am trying to be carefulin not jumping to conclusions about family stories but intend to verify that if possible.
What I have a good source for is that John Stoskopf b. Sept 29, 1849 moved with his parents to Decorah Iowa at the age of 14 and on Dec. 29, 1875 marriedChristena Malli. In March 1879 they moved toBarton co., Kansas.... I am very eager to see the 1870 Iowa census info for Winn. Co. and would like to read his father Jacob's obit. if I can find it in Iowa. I hope to find the Canadian records for the Stoskopfs while they were in Stratford, and the Earlier records from Alsace-Lorraine. I will probably have to rent the rolls for that info.
I regard all info that I have not proven to be a place to start from. Sometimes even census info is wrong. I am planning to track that down though in the next few months.
Sorry if there was any confusion, will try toclear it up.
One hurdle has been the common use of same first names. Michael, Diabold (Theobald), Valentine, etc...
