Emma Stoup-Holt-Peake Obituary - Fountain County, IN
The following is the obituary for Emma J. Stoup.It was printed in "The People's Friend", Covington, Fountain County, Indiana on October 9, 1914.
"DIED VERY SUDDENLY - Mrs. Emma Peake, of this city, died very suddenly Tuesday morning of heart disease and asthma.She had done a big day's washing on Monday and got up very early Tuesday morning to prepare for a big day's ironing, when she had an attack, and before aid could reach her, she was dead.
Mrs. Peake was better known as Mrs. Holt.She was the daughter of A. J. and Nancy Ann Stoup, who were prominent people of Wabash Township.She was born there on October 12, 1865, and woul dhave been 49 years old next Saturday.
She was married to William Holt in 1884, and they had five children, 3 sons and two daughters.One of the daughters, Bessie died at the age of seven years.One daughter, Mrs. Julia Hewitt, lives in Gas City, Albert in Washington County, and Fred and Floyd live in this county.
William Holt died April 5, 1909, and in September, 1912, the widow was again married to Benjamin Peake, who survives her.She also leaves surviving her, four brothers, William, Oliver and John, of this county, and Ross V., of Paoli, Indiana.The funeral was held Thursday with intermant in the Snoddy Cemetery."
