Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
I haven't been spending a lot of time on this obviously! However, recently I visited the museum in Markham. They have a file on the Stover family which included Barbara. Her siblings were - inorder: Mary, Elizabeth. Lydia, then Barbara, then Nancy who was her maid of honour, then Abraham. Her father was John born in 1781 and died on Jan. 5, 1867 (no information for her mother). John's parents were Peter and Margaret Stover who immigrated from Pennsylvania. The museum staff said many of these were Anabaptists who wouldn't swear allegance so moved to Canada. Peter died on March 31, 1813. He had purchased 200 acres in Markham which his will divided among all his children, even the daughters - with 70 acres going to his eldest son John, Barbara's father. The museum geneology staff advised me there is an older museum in Stouffville that may contain more information so I will check that out some day...
