I sent to the N.C. Dept. of Cultural Resources, Division of Archives and History for a land grant to Johann Heinrich Strader. They had nothing for him, but they sent me a warrant for 85 acres in 1799 for Henry Strader. The document reveals that both Henry and George owned land adjoining Travises Creek where it crosses the Guilford Co. line. Neither the creek nor the line have changed significantly since then, so the Straders must have settled here, about a mile and a quarter northwest of Elon College. The document involved three of the four sons of Johann Heinrich (and his grandson Daniel, a witness) It is almost as good as a land grant.
