"The History of Menard and Mason Counties, Illinois" published in 1879 give information regarding your question. It states, "James Turner, was born in erg Co., KY and came to Menard Col, IL in the fall of 1854. "Berry Turner, fathre of the subjecct of this sketch, was born in Buckingham Co., VA and his mother, Susanna Strader in North Carolina, Feb. 11, 1806"
James' brother,William Christian, was my husband's great-grandfather. I have a copy of the probate papers of Berry Turner.
Christian Strader and Zephoriah Summers were the parents of our Susanna Strader. She is mentioned as a daughter who married Barry (Berry) Turner in Hartzel Stader's book on the Strader family. Soon after Susanna and Berry Turner married they moved to Muhlenberg Co., KY with her parents.
