St. Charles (Illinois) Review, Jan. 3, 1880

Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Strader, experienced a pleasant little surprise from their friends, New Year's evening. The usual paste-boards, with red and black spots on 'em, were manipulated across little tables, and the usual amount of social converse enlivened things. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. John Strader, Mr. and Mrs. Conner, Mrs. Culverson, Mrs. Winsor, Mrs. Wesley Powers, Misses Ella Fellows and Libbie Veeder and J.F. Dewey. The occasion of the party was the twelfth anniversary of the wedding of Lafayette and wife.
