Rev. Christian Streit officiated at the marriage of my ancestors, Thomas Mitchell and Deborah Parkins/Perkins in 1790, Frederick County, Virginia. Deborah Parkins was the youngest daughter of noted Quaker settler Isaac Parkins (1699 - 1773); he died when Deborah was only 3 yrs old. Thomas Mitchell served in the Virginia State Navy during the Revolutionary War. At some time, therefore, I surmise that Deborah severed her relationship with the Quakers as they were pacifists and would have disowned her for both marrying out of the faith and marrying a former Patriot.

Rev Streit also is written up in Quarles' "100 Old Homes of Winchester, VA" and produced a huge family. Rev. Streit studied under Rev. Muhlenberg of Pennsylvania and was in the Revolutionary War--preached patriotic sermons and served as a Chaplain. He is listed in the DAR Patriot Index--descendants have joined that organization under him.
