Funeral services for Walter D. Stricklen, 87, of Wells were held Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock at Eden with the Rev. Ab Nichols of Nacogdoches, and the Rev. Bobby King of Lufkin officiating. Graveside services were held with interment following in the Eden cemetery.
Mr. Stricklen died Sunday afternoon at 4:15 o’clock at his residence in Wells. He had been a resident of Wells the past two years.
Born Dec. 2, 1871, in Arkansas, Mr. Stricklen resided in Nacogdoches County about 15 years before moving to Wells. He was a member of the Baptist Church and was a retired farmer.
Surviving are his wife are his wife, Mrs. Mary Stricklen of Wells; three daughters, Mrs. Matt Rogers of Beaumont, Mrs. Mart Stone of Ackley, Tex., and Mrs. Bob Dew of Wells; four sons, Faltom Stricklen, Nacogdoches, Jim Stricklen, Livingston, Oscar Stricklen of Orange, and Ferrel Stricklen of Houston; and 18 grandchildren, a number of great grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
