I have found a correction to my previous post. On the 1900 Census, Christian says he immigrated in 1840. He would have been 10 years old, not 2. Also, since I posted this I found that his parents and siblings are listed on a post by Zeke Inman on March 30, 2005. For convenience I'll repost Zeke's info here: In the 1850 US Federal Census for Manchester, Dearborn Co., Indiana, in the household of Sebastian STRIEGEL, there is an Elizabeth NEMIRE, 80. This is probably the mother of Ludgarda. Sebastian STRIEGEL, head of household, is 44 years old. Ludgarda, also born in Germany, is 48. They had the following children: i. Christian. Born in 1830. ii. Lendelein. Born in 1832. iii. John H.P. Born in 1836. iv. John D. Born in 1841. The 1870 US Federal Census for German, Iowa, records Sebastian, 63, married to a Catherine, 36. They had the following children: i. Susanna. Born in 1853. ii. Sebastian. Born in 1854. iii. George. Born in 1856. iv. Catherine. Born in 1857. v. Christian. Born in 1860. 2 vi. Stephen (Steve) (1861-) vii. Lucas. Born in 1863. viii. Mary. Born in 1865. ix. Louisa. Born in 1867. x. Alvina. Born in 1869. I have not yet located the parents of Sebastian STRIEGEL, but if I learn this information, I will post it. <<I'm looking for information on my ancestor, Christian Striegel born abt. 1829 in West Baden, Germany, immigrated to the US at age 2 (1831?). He married Lenora Lambert in Hannibal, MO. He died 9 Dec 1916. The only child I know they had was, Daniel Sylvester Striegel, born 1876 in Harper, Iowa and died 1914 in Kansas.>> Notify Administrator about this message?
