Looking for possible lines...

Heather, I too am researching the Strine line, and am stumped. The Mormon records, although having many names in their files, have little, or no information on the Strine family. From what I've been able to obtain, there are a large number of Strines in PA, then the farther away you get, the fewer there are.I'm in California, and there are very few here.Like you, I was always told the family came from Strinestown. It seems like they originated there.I visited the area in 1996, but really didn't get a lot of information. The Historical Society in York, PA did have quite a bit on the Strine name, and we did find one interesting item there that linked the family somewhat.A marriage announcement from 1947 of a Strine girl, and the photo in the article was the spitting image of my mother at the same time period. From there we've reached dead-ends.We did contact the family there, but she had died a few years earlier, and her husband didn't seem interested in helping in the quest. My great grandparents were John Strine and Mariah (or Maria) C. Long. They were both born in PA, he in 1829, and she in 1832.They both died in Los Angeles in the early 1900's, and are buried in the Hollywood Memorial Cemetery.I have the lineage from them on down in my tree, but they only had 4 children, two of whom married, and each of those had a son.One of those sons was my grandfather, and his only child was my mother, so the Strine name in her line stopped. Our line is dwindling fast on this side.Mariah's parents were Jno. Long and Mary Markley, both of whom we think may have been born in PA, but not sure.Like you, any information that anyone has beyond that will be greatly appreciated.
