I've seen the name "Tamer" in some of my research on my Pierce family. It seems one of the Pierces married an Indian who had the name "Tamer"--"Beaver Tamer", I believe.

I want to say there was a Hugh Pierce who married a Tamer; however, there were other Pierces who married Stringfellows.

My grandmother, Julia Lavinia Moody Pierce's mother was Minnie Stringfellow.

Maybe you could query the Pierece Forum to see if you can find any connection there.
